The Embassy of India, Helsinki celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with patriotic fervour and enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India.

The celebrations commenced with the singing of Vande Mataram, followed by the hoisting of the Indian Tricolour by Ambassador Hemant H. Kotalwar, the singing of the National Anthem and the reading of the Hon’ble President’s Address to the Nation.

Ambassador Hemant H. Kotalwar felicitated the winners and top performers of various initiatives organised as part of the celebrations, including a Painting Competition on ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, a Photography Competition on ‘India Through My Lens’, the ‘My India Story’ Campaign, a special Bharat Ko Janiye (BKJ) Quiz – Independence Day Edition, and an exhibition showcasing the ‘Journey of the Evolution of the Tricolour’.

As part of the #HarGharTiranga campaign, the Ambassador and Embassy officials proudly joined the celebrations, reaffirming the Tiranga as a timeless symbol of India’s unity, diversity, pride and patriotic spirit
