About the Embassy

India and Finland established diplomatic relations on 10 September 1949. Initially, India’s Ambassador resident in Stockholm was concurrently accredited to Finland. On 17 October 1960, India opened its resident Mission in Helsinki, headed by a Chargé d’Affaires en pied.. The Mission was elevated to Ambassadorial level in October1968 with the appointment of India’s first resident Ambassador to Finland, marking a new phase in the development of India-Finland relations.

The Embassy of India, Helsinki, located at 32 Kulosaarentie, 00570, Helsinki is the official representative of the Government of India in Finland. The Embassy works to promote and protect India’s interests and to strengthen the multifaceted partnership between India and Finland. It engages with Finnish government institutions, businesses, academia, media, the Indian diaspora and other stakeholders to advance cooperation across political, economic, trade, investment, science and technology, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
